Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What type of certificate will I receive upon completion of your class?
A: Upon successful completion of the ground school and flight school you will receive a certificate of completion indicating you have demonstrated the knowledge and capability to safely operate a drone within the appropriate air space.
Q: If I need to cancel after signing up for a class, can I reschedule or receive a refund?
A: If you cancel more than 10 calendar days before the start of a class for which you have registered, a 10% cancellation/processing fee will be deducted from your refund. If you cancel within 10 days or less of the start of your registered course a 50% cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund. You may reschedule a class and have any funds minus the cancellation/processing fee applied to the same course taken within 1 (one) year of the original registration date.
Q: Can I bring my drone to fly during the class?
A: While participating in an AeroVista Drone Academy class students are required to use the drone assigned to your group from our fleet of UAVs.
Q: What makes your training programs unique?
A: At AeroVista, we believe the foundation of a safe pilot is education, experience, and practical proficiency. That’s why our students spend a majority of their time flying, and reinforcing classroom concepts through our comprehensive flight instruction.
Q: What type of drones will I fly at the AVI Drone Academy?
A: We fly DJI Phantom 3 Advanced UAVs for training. They’re easy to fly, and represent the vast majority of consumer and commercial drones. Not to mention, they use the same flight controls as the big birds, so your flying skills will be applicable to larger, more complicated aircraft as well.
Q: How much flying time will I have in the AVI Drone Academy class?
A: The amount of flying time varies based on the specific course you are registering to take at the AeroVista Drone Academy. Please see the detail description for each course for additional details.
Q: If there is inclement weather on the day of my class will the flying portion be rescheduled or refunded?
A: Weather is a key consideration anytime a drone is flown. Our expert pilots will make a course day decision about the opportunity to fly outdoors based on the weather for that particular day. If outdoor flights are not possible the class will either be moved to an indoor location or rescheduled for a future date.
Q: Will I be qualified to fly after attending the AVI Drone Academy?
A: As a recreational operator, there’s no “certification” to fly a UAV, but at a bare minimum our recreational operator’s course not only provides you with the practical flight skills to operate a UAV, but also provides a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape of this fascinating new sector of aviation.
Q: Can I schedule a customized class with friends for a birthday celebration?
A: Absolutely! We are happy to put together a celebratory or corporate team building activity using our fleet of drones and expert pilots.
