Q. What type of certificate will I receive upon completion of your class?

Upon successful completion of the ground school and flight school you will receive a certificate of completion indicating you have demonstrated the knowledge and capability to safely operate a drone within the appropriate air space.

Q: If I need to cancel after signing up for a class, can I reschedule or receive a refund?

If you cancel more than 10 calendar days before the start of a class for which you have registered, a 10% cancellation/processing fee will be deducted from your refund. If you cancel within 10 days or less of the start of your registered course a 50% cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund. You may reschedule a class and have any funds minus the cancellation/processing fee applied the same course taken within 1 year of the original registration date.

Q: Can I bring my drone to fly during the class?

Our instructor provides a DJI sUAS for flight training, with industry standard control functionality. Unfortunately, for liability purposes the only aircraft that may be flown during the course are sUAS insured by AeroVista Drone Academy. However, the skills you’ll learn in our courses should be directly applicable to flying any industry standard sUAS.

At AVI, we believe the foundation of a safe pilot is education, experience, and practical profiency. That’s why our students spend a majority of their time flying, and reinforcing classroom concepts through our comprehensive flight instruction.

Q: What type of drones will I fly at the AVI Drone Academy?

We fly multiple models of UAS manufactured by DJI. DJI represents 80% of the civilian UAS market, and the skills you’ll learn flying our aircraft will be applicable to many others.

Q: How much flying time will I have in the AVI Drone Academy class?

Each flight day lasts 8 hours, and the average student should expect to log approximately 1 to 1.5 flight hours broken up across a number of lessons depending on weather, location, and type of course.

Q: If there is inclement weather on the day of my class will the flying portion be rescheduled or refunded?

Our expert instructors have years of experience predicting, and managing flights around weather. In the unlikely event the instructor determines that the weather conditions constitute a hazard to flight, the flying portion will be postponed or cancelled. You will have the opportunity to reschedule the flying portion to the next available course with an open seat.

Q: Will I be qualified to fly after attending the AVI Drone Academy?

As a commercial or public safety operator, you are legal to fly once you pass the FAA’s Aeronautical Knowledge Test and receive your Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. Our ground and flight school courses, not only provide you with the knowledge and materials to pass the test, they teach you how to apply these concepts and provide you with hands on flight experience.
